There are so many opinions about so many different things in this world. People give their voices on everything. Politics, music, sports, education, you name it and someone has an opinion about it. Well, like most people, I have my opinions too, and this is my website, so I figure I might as well voice them. I have ideas about a lot of things but this is a music site. So I should probably keep my ideas contained to that. Below is a list of the music genres I have profiled so far and what I think about each one.

Jazz is quite possibly the best genre of music that there is. It is also the only kind of music that is genuinely American. It came right out of cities along the Mississippi River during the 1800's. Places such as New Orleans and Kansas City were foundations for the music today. I personally like it because I can play it! I play the alto sax at school in jazz band and am the lead alto. I know that most teenagers today are into hard rock and a lot of metal so I guess you could say I am in the minority but I still enjoy it. Some of the artists I enjoy listening  to are Duke Ellington and the Average White Band.

Ska is an interesting kind of music. It has its own culture but unfortunately, does not get very much popularity. At least not where I live. Maybe I should move to Jamaica, where it first originated. I do listen to a little of it. The Cherry Poppin' Daddies are pretty good and then there is the all-time favorite Bob Marley. Yeah, he's that guy that gets all of those TV commercials trying to sell his all-time greatest hits. I think he is dead though but I'm not sure. Some of his songs are pretty interesting.

Heavy Metal is cool. I enjoy listening to the acoustic guitar and would like to learn to play it but haven't gotten that far as of yet. Heavy Metal music is a kind of music that developed and became wildly popular in the 80's. Some people have branded it as "the devil's music" or "music from hell" just because it is so much different in tones compared to other music. Whether this is or is not the case, I don't know. Some of the lyrics really make me wonder at times, but it isn't my decision. We all make that decision for ourselves.

Classical  music is pretty cool. I enjoy listening to it sometimes and it can be relaxing if it's the right type. There are a lot of people that don't like this music much. They say it puts them to sleep. Well that's the point!!!! Why else would you listen to it? I know. It doesn't put everyone to sleep. It is hard for me to explain why I like it so much. I guess I have been exposed to a lot of it and that's just me. George Winston is a really good piano player you may have heard of. Then of course, there's that other guy. I think his name is Mozart. He's pretty good too.
